About the Farm
Romelia SHB EP comes from the cloud-kissed Palmichal rainforest, bordering the famed Tarrazú region of Costa Rica — a land known for its exceptional acidity and refined cup quality.
The story begins with Manuel Rojas Arias, a pioneer coffee grower who introduced coffee to the Palmichal region on the western slopes of the Escazú Mountains. His success inspired other farmers to replace their sugar crops with coffee. After his passing, his sister Doña Romelia carried on his legacy, maintaining the same dedication to quality that defines this coffee today.
A Legacy of Excellence
Manuel Rojas founded Beneficio Palmichal in 1933, processing over 5,000 bags of exceptional SHB coffee that year — earning the highest prices in Costa Rica. That heritage continues today with meticulous sorting and processing that meets the European Preparation standard. Each bean is optically and hand-sorted to ensure purity and consistency in every roast.
